PARKING AUTHORITY ASSUMES FINAL PIECE

 OF ON-STREET PARKING PROGRAM

---NEWS RELEASE---

(September 1, 2006)--- The City of Hartford and The Hartford Parking Authority are announcing the last step of the Parking Authority’s take-over of the City’s on-street parking program.

Effective Tuesday, September 5, 2006, parking tickets will no longer be processed at the Tax Office in City Hall.  If folks wish to speak to a clerk about their ticket and/or receive a receipt for their payment, they will be directed to the Hartford Parking Authority’s Office of Parking Management.  (However, hearings for contested parking tickets will still take place at City Hall for about another month.)  A drop box and payment envelopes will still be provided in the Tax Office at City Hall where tickets will be picked up and processed daily.

The Office of Parking Management (OPM) is located at 99 Kingsley Street in Downtown Hartford near Constitution Plaza.  This is a temporary location.  In late October, this office is slated to move to its new home at 160 Market Street inside the Morgan Street Garage in Downtown Hartford.  Right now, the permanent home is still under construction.  When complete, the state-of-the-art facility will house both the Office of Parking Management and the City’s Citation Hearing Office.  This will provide a one-stop ticket process and thus, better customer service.

If you have any questions, please contact the Office of Parking Management at (860) 761-0004.
