MAYOR PEREZ’S SCHEDULE FOR SEPTEMBER 7TH
---NEWS ADVISORY---
7:30 a.m.--- Mayor Eddie A. Perez says, “Our kids come first!” That’s why he’ll be at the corner of Asylum Avenue and Sigourney Street to help enforce the “Keep Kids Alive, Drive 25” initiative that has been in effect for two years. Joining Mayor Perez will be Chief Daryl Roberts, Lt. Stephen Hajdasz of the HPD Traffic Division, as well as Mike Emmett, Principal of West Middle School, which is located at this corner in the Asylum Hill neighborhood. Police will be on the lookout for speeders and for those who run red lights.
11:00 a.m.--- Mayor Perez will address the Leadership Greater Hartford’s American Leadership Forum (ALF) Class regarding creating a sense of pride in the city’s economic and business growth. This is one of the many stops on the class’s tour of the city. This briefing will take place in the Mayor’s Green Conference Room on the 2nd floor of City Hall at 550 Main Street in Downtown Hartford. The ALF Program provides about two-dozen participants with a yearlong opportunity of exploring new leadership theories and practices to broaden awareness and community commitment.
12:00 p.m.--- Mayor Perez will present a proclamation at the Connecticut Pride Flag Raising. This event will take place in the Function Room on the 2nd floor of City Hall at 550 Main Street in Downtown Hartford. Connecticut Pride 2006 will hold its 25th Anniversary Party on Friday, September 8th at 9 p.m. at City Hall in celebration of inclusiveness.
1:30 p.m.--- Mayor Perez will stop by the Brazilian Flag Raising reception in Room 310 at the State Capitol in Downtown Hartford. The Brazilian flag will fly over the Capitol for a week in to celebrate independence, heritage, and culture.
4:00 p.m.--- Mayor Perez will take part in the Grand Opening of Hartford 21, the residential and retail tower that has redefined the skyline of the Capital City. Larry Gottesdiener and the Northland Investment Corporation will host the event that will include a ribbon cutting and the Connecticut Children’s Chorus Concert Choir performing “Corner of the Sky.”
