MAYOR PEREZ CELEBRATES WOMEN LEADERS

 AND HISPANIC HERITAGE

 

---NEWS ADVISORY FOR FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 15TH---

 

8:00 a.m.--- Mayor Perez will welcome and honor Connecticut Democratic Women at the 3rd Annual Leadership Awards Breakfast.  The event takes place at the Hilton in Downtown Hartford.  The keynote speaker is Mary Messina Glassman, candidate for Lieutenant Governor.

 

10:00 a.m.--- Mayor Perez will help kick-off Hispanic Heritage Month at Barnard Brown Elementary School, located at 1304 Main Street that borders the City’s Clay Arsenal and Downtown neighborhoods.  The Mayor attended this school as a boy and was assigned to Room 318--- an assignment that encouraged him, challenged him, and helped focus his life.  Mayor Perez will talk to students about the importance of culture and heritage and having positive role models.

 

7:00 p.m.--- Mayor Perez continues the celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month at First Cathedral Church.  The church is located at 1151 Blue Hills Avenue in Bloomfield.  The Mayor will recognize Bishop Bailey and talk about the significance of heritage and values.
