Health Education Series In Spanish to Start This Week in Hartford

(September 19, 2006)--- Hartford Hospital presents a series of lectures in Spanish on topics of concern to Spanish Speaking residents. The City of Hartford Health and Human Services Department is also contributing to this effort.

On Saturday 9/23/06 at 10:00 AM Dr. Ramón Jiménez, will conduct the first lecture of this series and the topic will be the prevention and strategies to deal with colon cancer.

The “ Salud Latina Series” continues as follows:

10/7/06:  Lecture by Luz Hagó, RD, CDE and Patricia Hernandez, APRN, FNP -----

10/21/06:  Dr. João Gomes presents on risk factors and treatment of aneurisms

11/4/06:  Rita Kornblum and Rosa Velazquez conduct a workshop for people interested in quitting the smoking habit.

11/18/06:  Brunella Ibarrola, MS, RD, CD-N and Chef Pedro Madera present ways to enjoy food without taxing one’s heart.

12/2/06:  Dr. Mario Cohen discusses issues involving diagnosis and treatment of uterine cancer

12/9/06:  Maria Palomares talks about everything one needs to know about breast cancer.

Dr. Roberto Medina serves as the facilitator and coordinator of this program.

All sessions will be held at the Hartford Hospital Auditorium located at 85 Jefferson Street and for registration please call (860) 545-1888.
