---MAYOR PEREZ’S EVENTS ON WEDNESDAY SEPT. 26^TH---

4:00 p.m.--- Applauding innovating instruction!  Mayor Eddie A. Perez will congratulate 30 Hartford Public School teachers for receiving grants to help spark learning and additional opportunities for students outside the classroom.  The Hartford Education Foundation’s 2007 Teacher Grant Program provides these financial awards for a wide variety of subjects including literacy, science and math.  The proclamations will be presented at the Gershon Fox Room, 960 Main Street in Downtown Hartford.

7:30 p.m.--- Awarding excellence!  Mayor Perez will present the Mayor’s Scholar Award (funded by JCJ) to Jorin Grori of Bulkeley High School at this year’s University of Hartford’s Scholars Dinner.  Jorin (pronounced YOUR-in), who came to the United States at age 18 with his family from Albania, is using this financial opportunity to help make his dream of becoming an engineer come true.  The ceremony takes place at the Marriott Hartford Downtown on Columbus Boulevard.
