MAYOR PEREZ’S PUBLIC EVENTS
FOR COLUMBUS DAY WEEKEND

SATURDAY, OCTOBER 7TH
10:00 a.m.--- Mayor Perez will march in the Park Road Parade and take part in the Taste of Parkville food festival. The starting point is at Prospect Avenue and Park Road (the Hartford and West Hartford line).
SUNDAY, OCTOBER 8TH
10:30 a.m.--- Mayor Perez will take part in the Columbus Day Parade and dedication ceremony which includes the raising of the Italian Flag. Those being honored this year include State Senator Biagio “Billy” Ciotto and Barbara Surwilo. The event starts at the intersection of Franklin and Maple Avenues in the South Green and Barry Square neighborhoods and then heads straight down Franklin Ave. ending at Columbus Park in the South End.
12:15 p.m.--- Mayor Perez will join invited guests for a luncheon as the United Polish Societies honor two Revolutionary War heroes: Count Casimer Pulaski and Thaddeus Kosciuszko. Both men fought with General George Washington to secure America’s freedom from the British. The gathering takes place at the Polish National Home on Charter Oak Avenue in the City’s Sheldon-Charter Oak neighborhood.
MONDAY, OCTOBER 9TH
In observance of Columbus Day, City Hall will be closed. Trash and recycling collection will be delayed for Hartford residents (no pick up on October 9th). A separate release with more details will be sent.
Mayor Perez has no public events scheduled on the Columbus Day Holiday.
