EDUCATION TOPS MAYOR’S PUBLIC EVENTS FOR THURSDAY, OCTOBER 12TH

9:00 a.m.--- Mayor Perez, in his capacity as Chairman of the Board of Education, thanks St. Paul Travelers for its commitment to kids and the community as the company hands out the school uniform shirts it volunteered to donate.  At least 17,000 shirts will go to Hartford Public School children in support of the mandatory and extremely successful school uniform policy for grades Pre-K through 8.  The donation celebration and a special announcement by St. Paul Travelers will take place at the Martin Luther King School, 25 Ridgefield Street in Hartford’s Upper Albany neighborhood.

 

10:30 a.m.--- Mayor Perez will discuss how educational, economic and environmental issues affect Hartford’s Hispanic community as the State Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) presents El Mes de la Hispanidad.  The speech will be delivered at the DEP at 79 Elm Street in Downtown Hartford.

 

5:00 p.m.---Mayor Perez introduces the new Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Steven Adamowski, to parents at the special PTO event “Night of 1,000 Parents” that takes place at Bulkeley High School, 300 Wethersfield Avenue in the City’s Barry Square neighborhood.  The “Chili Dog Social” begins at 4:30, the Mayor will arrive around 5:00 and Dr. Adamowski will address parents in the auditorium at 6:00.  For more information on this event, please contact Sam Saylor, President of the PTO President’s Council at (860) 218-2441 or 246-5336.  Mr. Saylor was a member of the search committee that unanimously selected Dr. Adamowski.
