MAYOR PEREZ’S PUBLIC EVENTS FOR

SUNDAY, OCTOBER 15TH AND MONDAY, OCTOBER 16TH

---NEWS ADVISORY---

SUNDAY

11:30 a.m.--- Be healthy so that children don’t go hungry!  Mayor Perez will welcome those taking part in the MILAN Walkathon at Riverfront Plaza in Downtown Hartford.  The two-mile walking trail will be utilized to raise awareness and money to help children throughout the State of Connecticut who go hungry.

1:15 p.m.--- March of the faithful!  Mayor Perez will join about 300 people in the annual Mass and Procession for the Brotherhood of the Lord of the Miracles.  The Lord of Miracles is the most popular religious icon celebrated in Peru.  The story dates back to 1651 when an Angolan slave’s painting of Jesus Christ survives an earthquake that struck Lima.  Sunday’s Mass takes place at 1:20 p.m. and the Procession begins at 2:20 p.m. at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, located at 79 New Park Avenue in Hartford’s Parkville neighborhood.

MONDAY

10:00 a.m.--- Providing hope and care to the uninsured!  Mayor Perez will take part in the Grand Opening celebration of the Malta House Care Mobile Clinic.  This event takes place at Sacred Heart Church at the corner of Winthrop and Ely Streets on the border of the Clay Arsenal and Downtown neighborhoods.  This effort complements the goal of the Mayor’s Healthy Community Initiative by providing access to health care and information to those without health insurance.
