HARTFORD SCORES ANOTHER BIG WEEKEND

 WITH VISITORS

(October 15, 2007)--- It was another blockbuster weekend for the City of Hartford! Mayor Eddie A. Perez is pleased that thousands upon thousands of people and their families enjoyed a variety of events in the Capital City, showing that Hartford is New England’s Rising Star!

 

Mayor Perez says, “It is wonderful when we can have such diverse crowds enjoying such diverse events.  The goal is for people to experience our rich history and culture, spread the word to their family, friends, and neighbors, and then have folks return for another visit.  For residents, this was another great opportunity to rediscover all the exciting developments that continue to happen in all of our neighborhoods.”

 

The UTC Greater Hartford Marathon was a biggest draw on Saturday, October 13th with 40,000 racers and people cheering them on.

 

The Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk at Bushnell Park on Sunday drew 5,500 participants.

 

“Disney’s High School Musical” at The Bushnell Center for the Performing Arts attracted more than 10,000 patrons over the weekend.

 

The Civic Center was also jamming with more than 10,000 people arriving to see “Sesame Street Live.”

 

The Zeta Phi Beta Sorority held its conference for 400 members at the Hilton Hartford.

 

That adds up to more than 65,000 people experiencing Hartford!
