EVENTS OF NOTE:
1:30 p.m.--- Friday, October 26th in the Ballroom West and Center--- Mayor Perez will help present an award to the fiancé of Captain Maria Ines Ortiz, a nurse who died in Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom. Mayor Perez will also share a few words honoring Connecticut’s Latino Veterans, including a new law designed to help our returning hometown heroes and their families.
8:15 p.m.--- Friday, October 26th in the Grand Ballroom--- The National Puerto Rican Coalition will present Mayor Perez with the “Siempre Boricua Award” in recognition of the Mayor’s efforts to promote cultural pride and advance the quality of life of people of Puerto Rican heritage. Earlier this month, Mayor Perez was named Hispanic Business Magazine’s 100 Most Influential Hispanics.
Mayor Eddie A. Perez is proud to welcome this national convention to the Capital City. The Mayor says, “This convention is a natural fit for Hartford because of our diverse community and because Hartford is on the forefront of finding solutions to the issues that will be discussed including advocacy for children and families, civil rights, education, health, housing, Veterans Affairs, and youth leadership.”
