 TWO NEIGHBORHOODS NOW WIRELESS

Mayor Eddie A. Perez will officially rollout “Wireless Hartford” on Friday, October 27, 2006 in Downtown Hartford --- one of the two pilot neighborhoods for this exciting and soon to be expanding project that will close the digital divide for Hartford families, employees, and visitors!  Even with only two neighborhoods “hot”, Hartford has one of the largest municipal wireless systems in the nation!  And Hartford is the only city providing low-cost computers and training to residents!

 

WHEN:                       9:30 a.m. on Friday, October 27th

 

WHERE:                    Bushnell Park (at stone wall between Pond and the Carousel)

                                    OR IN CASE OF INCLEMENT WEATHER

                                    Cornerstone Deli, 529 Main Street (across from City Hall)

 

 WHO:                        Mayor Perez will be joined by:

                                    Gerald Baseel, IBM

                                    Bob Coates, CL&P

                                    State Senator John Fonfara

 

WHAT:                       Official “Wire Cutting” and log-on will take place

 

 

And there’s more!  Next week, the official “wire cutting” will take place in the other pilot neighborhood--- Blue Hills.  At this time, the computer depot will also open.  Stay tuned for more details!
