HARTFORD IS BUILDING UP AND MOVING FORWARD

 WITH PASSAGE OF BOND PACKAGE

(October 31, 2007)--- Mayor Eddie A. Perez is pleased that the State has passed the Bond Package, and the end result is very positive for the City of Hartford.  Mayor Perez says, “Working with Hartford’s delegation, state leaders--- especially Speaker Amann and President Pro Tempore Williams--- and the Governor’s office, we were able to achieve funding for some very substantial projects that help the City continue the positive momentum of this unprecedented renaissance.”

 

Some of that funding includes:

 

Flood Control:                                                                          $12.0 million

SAMA (Spanish American Merchants Association):                  $ 1.7 million

Old State House:                                                                      $ 1.45 million

Public Safety Complex:                                                             $ 1.0 million

Artists Collective:                                                                      $  .8 million

North Hartford Streetscape:                                                      $  .5 million

Bridge Park River:                                                                    $  .5 million

Hartford Economic Development Corp Revolving Loan:            $  .9 million

Wethersfield Ave. Façade Improvements:                                  $  .5 million

Mi Casa Renovations:                                                               $  .35 million

CPTV Equipment Upgrade:                                                      $ 2.5 million

CRRA (closure of landfill):                                                        $ 3.0 million

YMCA Albany Avenue:                                                           $ 1.5 million

 

School Construction will also continue to be funded now that the Bond Package has passed.  Mayor Perez says, “Hartford has already built and renovated seven schools.  Six more schools are part of this second phase.  Now that this package has been approved, the City of Hartford can be reimbursed more than $26 million.  Again, I am pleased that a resolution to the stalemate was reached because this benefits towns and cities throughout the state.”
