(November 24, 2006)--- Dr. Steven Adamowski’s first day on the job as the Superintendent of Hartford Public Schools is Monday, November 27th.   Mayor Eddie A. Perez, in his capacity as Chairman of the Board of Education, is pleased to welcome this nationally known educator as the new leader of Hartford’s 24,000 public school children.

 

Mayor Perez says, “Accountability matters and so do results.  Steven Adamowski has a proven track record in raising student achievement.  He shares my vision of believing in our kids and believing in their success.” 

 

Dr. Adamowski comes to Hartford after being a Senior Fellow and Managing Director of the American Institutes for Research.  His work is focused on improving the effectiveness of school districts.  Prior to that, he served as Superintendent/CEO of the Cincinnati, Ohio Public Schools where improvements received national recognition.  Educational accountability and standards were the focus of his work as Associate Secretary of Education in Delaware.

 

Dr. Adamowski has strong ties to Hartford and to Connecticut.  He earned his Masters Degree from Trinity College and his Bachelor’s Degree from Southern Connecticut State College.  He was Superintendent in Norwich Public Schools, a Principal in Farmington, and a Teacher in New Haven.
