MAYOR PEREZ TRAVELS TO D.C.
TO FIGHT FOR RECOGNITION OF COLTSVILLE
---NEWS ADVISORY FOR DEC. 5TH---
1:00 p.m.--- Preserve Hartford’s rightful place in history! Mayor Eddie A. Perez will travel to Washington D.C. to advocate that the Coltsville Historic District in Hartford receive national historic recognition. He will speak before the Advisory Committee of the National Park Service, who is expected to render a decision by the end of the hearing. The address of this event is 1785 Massachusetts Ave., NW.
Earlier this year, Mayor Perez sent a letter to the National Park Service, stating his gratitude for its support and for understanding the significance and the symbolism of this landmark and how vital it can be to Hartford’s future.
Mayor Perez says, “Colt Firearms helped make Hartford a thriving industrial center in the late 19th Century, revolutionizing military tactics and combat procedures. To appreciate the history of the Colt name in Hartford is to appreciate the impact the Coltsville Historic District will have--- by embracing the spirit of innovation, economic development and entrepreneurism.”
Mayor Perez believes that the famous dome atop the Colt facility has transcended the ages and will continue to help define Hartford’s skyline and its vision for the future.
Mayor Perez would like to thank Congressman John Larson, and Sens. Christopher Dodd and Joseph Lieberman for their leadership in our nation’s capitol on this issue of historical proportions.
