---Saturday, December 9, 2006---

 

10:00 a.m.--- Mayor Perez will joins family, friends, and community leaders in heartfelt dedication in honor of the late Ella Little Cromwell.  Mrs. Cromwell passed away in September at the age of 88.  In honor of “Queen Ella’s” tireless work in the community, as of next week, Vine Street will also bear the name “Ella L. Cromwell Way.”  The ceremonial tree planting (at what will be known as “Ella Little Cromwell Overlook”) and honorary street dedication unveiling will take place in the Keney Woodland section of Keney Park (Ridgefield Street entrance.)

 

 

1:00 p.m.--- Mayor Perez announces the official partnership between The Hartford Youth Scholars Foundation and the Steppingstone Foundation.  This is an important collaboration because Steppingstone is a national leader in academic enrichment and support programs for urban youth.  Mayor Perez wants to increase educational opportunities for Hartford families through this Independent School Initiative.  This first ever Family Information Meeting marks the official beginning of Stepping Stone Academy Hartford.  It takes place at Watkinson School 180 Bloomfield Avenue in Hartford’s Blue Hills neighborhood from 1 p.m. to 3p.m.
