ALAN GREEN NAMED

EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF HARTFORD HOUSING AUTHORITY

---NEWS RELEASE---

(December 13, 2007)--- Mayor Eddie A. Perez and Hartford Housing Authority Chairman Mark Ojakian are pleased to announce that Alan Green, an experienced housing development administrator, has been named the new Executive Director of the Hartford Housing Authority.  Mr. Green will be in charge of the day-to-day operations of the HHA.

Mr. Green lives in Hartford’s West End and is an experienced executive with a proven track record for developing innovative programs and administrative policies for housing, philanthropic, and governmental organizations.  He comes from his most recent position as the President and Chief Executive Officer with New Samaritan Corporation in Hamden where he directed and managed all aspects of the organization including budget, finance, administration, and real estate.  New Samaritan Corp. develops quality, affordable housing and elderly housing.

Mayor Perez says, “Alan is committed to public service and quality of life issues.  His record and resume speak for themselves on how he has stood up for the working class and working poor so that they can achieve their share of the American Dream.  Alan is someone who is always ‘ahead of the curve.’  An attorney by trade, he led the effort for faith-based initiatives long before it was fashionable.  I believe that Alan’s leadership and experience will be quite beneficial to Hartford residents achieving their housing needs and goals.”

Mr. Ojakian, who is also the State’s Deputy Comptroller, says, “I am very excited to have someone of Alan’s experience and stature to lead the Hartford Housing Authority.  I believe that under his leadership, we will continue to move the Housing Authority forward in a positive manner.  In Alan Green, the Board selected a true partner in serving the needs of the residents of public housing in the City of Hartford.”

Mr. Green says, “I made a conscious decision to move back into Hartford to become part of the fabric of the community.  In fact, in my early years, my family and I lived in Rice Heights.  It was a wonderful experience--- safe, clean and supportive. To me, that’s what public housing should be all about, so I take on this opportunity with tremendous enthusiasm.”

Mr. Green begins his tenure with the HHA effective January 4, 2008.
