MAYOR PEREZ MAKES REQUEST TO BRING BACK BOWLES PARK BUS SERVICE

---NEWS RELEASE---

(December 19, 2006)--- Hartford Mayor Eddie A. Perez has written a letter to the State Department of Transportation requesting Commissioner Ralph Carpenter to reverse the decision to reduce the level of service on weekdays and weekends to Bowles Park in the City’s Blue Hills neighborhood.

Mayor Perez states in the letter, “I have been contacted by a number of residents concerned about the route change of the F Bus that has eliminated service in Bowles Park after 7 p.m. and on Saturday.  Connecticut Transit bus service is a critical resource for the residents of Bowles Park who rely on bus service for everyday activities from commuting to work and school to shopping for groceries.”

Mayor Perez goes on to say, “I urge you to consider not only the ridership levels along the F bus route but also the need to service a population that may have no other access to transportation than the buses of Connecticut Transit.”

Mayor Perez looks forward to discussing this matter in further detail with Commissioner Carpenter.
