Dance to Wellness with the sounds and moves of Belly Dancing

---NEWS ADVISORY---

For those who love it, dancing beats a dull workout on the treadmill. Even medical professionals are coming to terms with how powerful dance can be for overall fitness. Researchers have documented that 21 minutes of dancing, three times a week, can match the cardiovascular benefits of working out on a treadmill or bicycle.

The successful Dancing to Wellness program sponsored by the City of Hartford Health and Human Services Department in partnership with the Hartford Public Library will continue in 2007 every first Thursday of the month.

“Dancing improves health because it is aerobic.  It deals with isometric movements, it focuses on the importance of good posture and it lowers stress,” says Ramon Rojano, Director of Health and Human Services.

“Dancing to Wellness” will be held on Thursday January 4th, 2007 from 6 to 8 PM at the Hartford Public Library located (500 Main Street in Downtown Hartford), in the third floor function room.  The first dance session of the year will be belly dancing. An instructor with 30 years of experience in dance and theater production will lead the way.  People of all ages are invited to join.
