Executive Director Named to Lead Rising Star Homeownership Initiative

 

(Hartford) Donald Poland, AICP, has been appointed to the position of Executive Director of The Neighborhoods of Hartford, Incorporated. The organization was established to implement Mayor Eddie A. Perez's initiative to increase homeownership, investment, and pride in Hartford’s neighborhoods.   “I am pleased to announce the selection of Mr. Poland”, stated Mayor Perez.  “A Hartford resident and a former town planner, I believe Mr. Poland brings the skills necessary to help strengthen Hartford’s neighborhoods which will improve the quality of life for our residents,” the Mayor added.  Mr. Poland assumed his new responsibilities on Monday, February 23, 2004. He was interested in the position because of his love for Hartford and his desire to work toward improving the city.

“Donald Poland has the experience and vision to help lead this organization in its effort to bring positive change to Hartford's neighborhoods and to improve the lives of its residents”, said Elliot Ginsberg, Chair of The Neighborhoods of Hartford, Incorporated. “All the members of the Board look forward to working with him as we implement vital homeownership and investment initiatives for the city,” he continued.

 

With ten years of experience, Mr. Poland has a strong background in neighborhood planning, land use, and community organizing.  He has a M.S. degree in geography and a B.A. degree in both geography and psychology.   “I am looking forward to working in the designated Rising Star Blocks and Pride Blocks to fulfill the objectives of the organization and to facilitate the development of Hartford’s neighborhoods.” stated Mr. Poland.
