We would like to thank everyone for your feedback and participation throughout this process! The Parks and Recreation Advisory Commission approved the Guide (with comments - see Guide Addendum) on January 26, 2016.
The City of Hartford was focused on creating a master plan for its parks and open spaces: the Capital City Parks Guide. Great park systems are made when citizens, stakeholders and civic leadership take a holistic view of the benefits of parks, open space and greenways for future generations. Hartford’s plan provides a high level of specificity about the future of the parks and open space system, from development of a meaningful, clear understanding of parks’ needs, to design of concept plans for each park, to a roadmap for how to get there.
This plan considers ways to create more ecological diversity, greater connectedness, preservation of historic resources, and a balanced system of amenities and services that are accessible to all.
