Person of Interest in Homestead Hit & Run

Homestead 10-35

On November 23, 2015 at 4:41 p.m. Hartford Police Department Patrol Officers responded to the area of 333 Homestead Ave on a report of a pedestrian struck by a motor vehicle. Upon arrival, officers found a a male lying in the road across the eastbound lane of Homestead Ave. A witness to the incident stated he was traveling east on Homestead Ave and observed the pedestrian cross in a clearly marked pedestrian crosswalk in front of 333 Homestead Ave. The witness reports that the pedestrian attempting to cross from the south sidewalk to the north sidewalk was struck by the evading vehicle, became airborne and landed approximately 150 Ft from point of impact. The evading vehicle was then observed continuing east on Homestead Ave without stopping.
The witness was able to capture a picture of the rear of the evading vehicle, identifying the vehicle as a Chrysler, Town and Country van, color tan and bearing a CT marker plate of 395-YMM. Although a marker plate was captured, unfortunately the marker plate is a misused plate with no information found.

Video surveillance capturing the incident was obtained from an exterior camera attached to the Salvation Army building, located at 333 Homestead Ave. The video surveillance shows the initial vehicle impact with the pedestrian, the evading vehicle pulling into a parking lot a short distance from the initial impact, then exiting the lot and continuing east on Homestead Ave and out of camera visibility.
The pedestrian suffers from broken legs, arms and a head injury. He is being treated at St. Francis Hospital where the struck pedestrian had been placed in a medically induced coma. The attending physician advised HPD officers that the pedestrian's injuries no longer appear to be life threatening.
