Biography Appointed Deputy Chief on August 13, 2007, by Hartford Police Chief Daryl K. Roberts, Deputy Chief John K. Horvath commands the Department’s North Division that includes the Northeast and Northwest Districts comprised of the North Meadows, Northeast, Upper Albany, Clay Hill, Clay Arsenal, Blue Hills, Asylum Hill, and West End neighborhoods. As North Division Chief, Deputy Chief Horvath is responsible for implementation of the Hartford Police Department's Neighborhood Policing Plan throughout the north end of the city.
Deputy
Chief Horvath began his career with the police department in 1994 and
has commanded the Hartford Police Department’s Intelligence Division and
Crisis Negotiation Team. He has also supervised the Violent Crime
Impact Team, Fugitive Task Force and Dignitary Protection Unit. Deputy
Chief Horvath has served as an investigator assigned with the FBI’s
Joint Terrorism Task Force, the Internal Affairs Division and has served
as a member of the Anti-Terrorism Advisory Council. He has also worked
as a supervisor with the Patrol Division and the Disorder Control Team.
