NEWS RELEASE Hartford Police Department Accepting Applications for 2006 Citizens Academy. (Hartford) - Chief Patrick J. Harnett today announced the HPD is accepting applications for the 2006 Hartford Police Citizens Academy. Applications may be obtained from area HPD Community Service Officers, on the HPD's official website www.hartford.gov/police, at Hartford Police Headquarters, 50 Jennings Road, at the Hartford Police Academy, 101 Pearl Street, or at the following Police Substations:
Applications for the eleven week class scheduled to begin January 19, 2006 and run through March 30, 2006, will be accepted until December 9, 2005. Applications can be mailed to The Hartford Police Department, 50 Jennings Road, Hartford, CT 06120, Attention: Police Academy, Sergeant Karen Boisvert or Officer Mike Manson, or faxed to the HPD Police Academy at (860) 722-6107. Classes are held every Thursday evening from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Hartford Police Academy, 101 Pearl Street, Hartford. "The intent of the Citizens Academy is to
share information about operations and processes of the Police Department
with citizens in an effort to build better police community relations, and,
through this shared experience gain valuable input from the community we
serve. I encourage anyone interested in learning about policing in our
