NEWS RELEASE HARTFORD POLICE SERGEANT ASSISTS IN DELIVERING BABY.
(Hartford) - Sergeant Sergio Inho of the Hartford Police Department assisted in the delivery of a baby to Deanna and Christopher Crooks of Manchester, CT, early this morning on Collins Street in Hartford. At approximately 8:00 am., while patrolling westbound on Asylum Street, Sergeant Inho observed a vehicle with its flashers on and horn blasting traveling through a red light at the intersection of Asylum and Spruce Streets. Sergeant Inho stopped the vehicle and, upon observing a pregnant women in the back seat in labor, instructed the father to follow him as he would escort them quickly and safely to the hospital. Within three blocks, the father apparently realizing the baby was coming, pulled over. He and Sergeant Inho, who had already called an ambulance, delivered the baby boy on Collins Street, several blocks from the hospital. EMS arrived shortly thereafter and took over the scene, transporting the baby and mother to St. Francis Hospital where they are both reportedly doing fine. In commenting on the incident, HPD Assistant Chief Michael F. Fallon, Chief of Patrol, said "Sergeant Inho's keen observation and quick response in aiding these new parents in a desperate situation is what police service is all about." Chief Fallon complemented Sergeant Inho for a job well done, and on behalf of the HPD extended his congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Crooks on the delivery of a healthy baby boy. Contact: Nancy
