NEWS RELEASE HARTFORD POLICE MAKE ARREST IN ATTEMPTED ARMED ROBBERY. (Hartford) - Today, at approximately 8:30 a.m., an attempted armed robbery occurred at 103 Maple Avenue, Hartford, the Connecticut State Check Cashing Service. At the time of the incident, the store manager and clerk were opening the establishment for business, when a black male armed with a handgun approached the pair and attempted a robbery. A struggle ensued and the store manager was shot three times by the perpetrator. The store manager is reported in stable condition at Hartford Hospital. The store clerk was not injured in the incident. The perpetrator then fled to Retreat Avenue where he entered a four door White Acura, CT Reg. 855SDV. A citizen witnessed the event from his private vehicle and phoned 911, providing information on his whereabouts to Hartford Police. A Hartford Police K-9 unit was used to locate the suspect at 21 Lisbon Street, where he was found hiding under a mattress. Recovered from the suspect were the keys from the getaway vehicle and a loaded handgun. Arrested and charged with criminal attempted murder, assault in the first degree, criminal possession of a firearm, unlawful discharge of a firearm, and carrying a pistol without a permit was Josh Green, DOB 8/21/78, of 21 Lisbon Street, Hartford. Green has a parole hold, no bond and no release status. Should the parole hold be lifted, his bond will be set at $1,000,000.00 Green's court date is scheduled for Monday, March 28, 2005, at 10:00 a.m. in Hartford Superior Court, 101 Lafayette Street, Hartford.
