HARTFORD POLICE SEIZE FOUR
GUNS AND MAKE THREE ARRESTS AS A RESULT OF INVESTIGATIONS INTO ILLEGAL
FIREARMS THROUGHOUT CITY.
(Hartford) - In separate investigations throughout the city over the past
two days Hartford Police have seized four firearms and arrested three
individuals on illegal firearms charges. In each case Hartford Police
were successful in establishing high bonds on the individuals as a result of
the illegal firearms charges.
- On May 11, 2005 at approximately 1:30 p.m. detectives of the Hartford
Police Department's Vice and Narcotics Division executed a search and
seizure warrant at 190-192 Sargeant Street, Hartford where the made one
arrest and seized two .22 caliber pistols, a box of shells, five ounces of
cocaine, indeterminate amount of marijuana, drug packaging materials, and
$600.00 in U.S. Currency. Arrested and charged with possession of
narcotics, possession of a controlled substance, possession with intent to
sell (PWITS), sale of narcotics, possession of a controlled substance
within 1,500 feet of a school, possession of drug paraphernalia, operating
a drug factory and stealing a firearm was Jonathan Miller, DOB 1/6/55, of
190 Sargeant Street. Miller's bond was set at $1 million.
- On May 12, 2005, at approximately 11:45 a.m., Harford Police Vice and
Narcotics detectives received information about an individual carrying a
firearm in the 400 block area of Franklin Avenue. After conducting
surveillance in the area the suspect was located and, with the assistance
of HPD patrol units, was apprehended. Detectives recovered a loaded
Smith & Wesson .38 caliber revolver from the suspect. Arrested and
charged with carrying a pistol without a permit was Melvin Perry, DOB
3/31/86 of 38 Redding Street, Hartford. Perry's bond was set at
$150,000.
- Also on May 12th, 2005, detectives of the HPD's Northeast District
Narcotics and Gun Team executed a search and seizure warrant at
approximately 8:30 p.m., at 345-347 Sigourney Street, third floor.
As a result of the investigation detectives seized a Ruger .357 revolver,
$721.00 in U.S. Currency, and a small amount of marijuana. Arrested
and charged with criminal possession of a firearm, possession of a
controlled substance, PWITS, PWITS within 1,500 feet of a school, and risk
of injury was Ronald Williams, DOB 5/9/75, o 345-347 Sigourney Street,
Hartford. Williams' bond was set at $275,000.
Hartford Police have seized and/or recovered 101 guns this year.
