HPD APPREHENDS ROBBERY SUSPECT.

(Hartford) - Hartford Police charged Francis T. Hendron (DOB 10-09-64), of 1037 Capitol Avenue, Hartford, with Robbery in the First Degree.  Hendron was wanted by Hartford Police in connection with the March 18, 2004 robbery of a Franklin Avenue sandwich shop.  See attached Wanted Poster.

On March 18, 2004, at approximately 5:33 p.m., HPD Patrol Units responded to 467 Franklin Avenue on the report of an armed robbery.  Upon arrival, Officers determined that a white male suspect has entered the shop armed with a knife and demanded money from the lone employee working the cash register.  The suspect subsequently grabbed money from the register and fled the scene in a green, four door Saturn vehicle operated by a white female.

The Hartford Police Department's Major Crimes Division began an immediate investigation into the incident.  With the assistance of information developed by the West Hartford Police Department, Detective John Koch of the Major Crimes Division obtained an arrest warrant for Hendron on Monday, May 3, 2004.  Hendron was considered armed and dangerous.

On Wednesday, May 5, 2004, Hendron, apparently aware of the Hartford Police arrest warrant, turned himself into West Hartford Police.  West Hartford Police turned Hendron over the Hartford Police where he was debriefed by Major Crimes, then charged with Robbery in the First Degree.  Hendron remains in HPD custody on $100,000 bond.
