OFFICER CHARGED WITH LARCENY

(Hartford) - On Tuesday, November 29, 2005, Officer Eric Lautenbach, an eight year veteran of the Hartford Police Department, was arrested and charged with Larceny in the 6th Degree. 

Hartford Police began an investigation of Lautenbach on Wednesday, November 23rd pursuant to a complaint received from a citizen stating that Lautenbach had stolen cash from her purse while she was shopping at Wal-Mart's in Hartford.   An immediate investigation was launched by the Hartford Police Department's Internal Affairs Division which culminated in the issuance of an arrest warrant today for Lautenbach by the Office of the Hartford State's Attorney.

Officer Lautenbach has been suspended without pay pending further investigation.
