ALTERCATION ON MARTIN
STREET ENDS IN CITY'S 8TH HOMICIDE. (Hartford) - A late evening altercation in the area of 161 Martin Street, Hartford, has resulted in the city's eighth (8th) homicide of 2005. At approximately 11:30 p.m., on Saturday, May 14, 2005, Hartford Police responded to a report of an altercation involving shots fired at 161 Martin Street, Hartford. Upon arrival and investigation officers determined that a person had been shot and was transported by private vehicle to St. Francis Hospital. Preliminary reports indicate that two individuals were involved in an altercation which became deadly when one produced a firearm and began shooting. The victim, an 18 year old male who sustained gun shot wounds to the chest area, was pronounced dead at St. Francis Hospital at approximately 2:00 a.m. The victim's name is being withheld pending identification confirmation and notification of next of kin. Detectives of the Hartford Police Major Crimes Division began am immediate investigation. The HPD Evidentiary Services Division processed the scene for evidence. No suspect information is available at this time.
