NEWS RELEASE HARTFORD POLICE CAPTURE FUGITIVE DAMAR GERVAN PINK, WANTED IN FLORIDA FOR MURDER AND ARMED ROBBERY. (Hartford) - On Wednesday, January 26, 2005 at approximately 8:55 a.m., the Hartford Fugitive Task Force and Hartford Police Emergency Response Team captured Damar Gervan Pink, DOB 10/04/85, a fugitive from justice wanted in Launderhill, Florida for First Degree Murder and Armed Robbery. Pink is the last of three suspects wanted in connection with the armed robbery of the Stile's Farmers Market in Lauderhill, Florida. A security Guard, on his first day of work, was shot and killed shortly after the suspects entered the store. Pink was recently highlighted on America's Most Wanted. The capture of Fugitive Pink in Hartford was precipitated by HPD Officer Kent Lee who obtained information indicating that Pink was residing at 20 Groton Street in Hartford. Based on this information, the Hartford Fugitive Task Force and HPD Emergency Response Team began an immediate investigation and surveillance of the Groton Street location. The suspect was observed entering a vehicle at 20 Groton Street and was apprehended as he attempted to drive away. Pink was charged at Hartford Police Headquarters with First Degree Murder, Armed Robbery, and being a Fugitive From Justice. His bond was set at $5 million dollars pending extradition to Florida. In commenting on the investigation and capture of Pink, HPD Chief of Detectives, Mark R. Pawlina, stated, "This arrest shows the importance of how information from the community can be very helpful in taking dangerous criminals off our city streets. In this instance, Officer Lee obtained information and passed it on to the Hartford Fugitive Task Force, which quickly responded and along with the HPD Emergency Response Team, and did an excellent job of apprehending Pink without harm to any citizens."
