MURDER SUSPECT APPREHENDED IN MASSACHUSETTS.

(Hartford) - Police Chief Patrick J. Harnett announced today that HPD Major Crimes Detectives, and the Hartford Fugitive Task Force, in coordination with the Massachusetts State Police, Springfield District Attorney's Office and Springfield Police, apprehended Anita Ramos, DOB 10/29/57, of 160 Brook Street, Hartford, on March 1, 2005 in Springfield, Massachusetts.  Ramos was apprehended without incident.

An arrest warrant for Ramos, wanted by Hartford Police in connection with the Batista murder on February 24, 2005, was obtained by Hartford Police Major Crimes Detective Drew Jacobson.

Ramos is charged as a fugitive from justice and remains in Springfield, Massachusetts Police custody pending extradition to Connecticut. 

Hartford Police are continuing their investigation of the murder to Reynaldo Batista, and asks anyone with information about the incident to contact the Hartford Police Department's Major Crimes Division at (860) 527-6300.  All information will be kept confidential.
