St. Patrick's Day 5K Road Race and Parade Routes and Street Closures.

(Hartford) - As a result of the annual St. Patrick's Day Parade and the St. Patrick's Day 5K Road Race scheduled this Saturday, March 12, 2005, the City of Hartford and Hartford Police Department will close  numerous streets to vehicular traffic and establish no parking tow zones along the Parade and Road Race routes.

The Hartford Police Department suggests, due to the fact that many downtown streets will be closed and reopened sporadically throughout the Road Race and Parade, that participants and spectators allow for extra travel to get to these events.

Hartford Deputy Chief Michael J. Fallon, HPD South Division Chief, said "The Hartford Police will do everything possible to facilitate the efficient movement of traffic in and around the city for these two events.  We are aware of the impact of street closures and parking bans on downtown businesses and residents, and also of the needs of participants and spectators to navigate the city.  We will do our very best to accommodate everyone's needs."
