NEWS RELEASE MURDER SUSPECT EXTRADITED FROM JAMAICA; BOOKED BY HARTFORD POLICE ON $1 MILLION BOND. (Hartford) - Anthony Thompson, DOB 11/26/80, formerly of Bloomfield, Connecticut, wanted in connection with the murder of O'Neil Robinson and shooting of two others on February 14h at the Cleveland Cafe in Hartford, was extradited from Jamaica this morning and booked by Hartford Police on $1 million bond. Thompson was transported from Jamaica to Hartford, Connecticut by detectives from the Hartford Police Department's Major Crimes Division and the United State's Marshal's Service. Hartford Police had secured an arrest warrant for Thompson on or about February 25th, 2005 for the murder of Robinson and the serious assault of two other individuals inside the Cleveland Cafe based on evidence obtained by detectives of the HPD's Major Crimes Division. In early April, based on information obtained by officers of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), a provisional arrest warrant was issued in Jamaica which authorized his apprehension and eventual extradition to the United States to face charges in the case. "ICE is proud to have assisted the Hartford Police Department in the apprehension of this wanted fugitive," said Bruce E. Chadbourne, field office director of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in New England. "This case highlights the significant benefits of strong working relationships among law enforcement partners." Hartford Police Chief Patrick J. Harnett, in commenting on the capture and extradition of Thompson, said "The successful location and apprehension of Thompson is a direct result of the outstanding coordination that exists between all levels of law enforcement from the Hartford Fugitive Task Force." The Task Force is make up of representatives of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, U.S. Department of Justice's Office of International Affairs, United State's Marshal's Office, Connecticut State's Attorney, Connecticut State Police, State of Connecticut Office of Adult Probation, and Officers of the Hartford Police Department.
