MEDIA ADVISORY West Indian Day Parade route change for Saturday, August 7, 2004
(Hartford) -
The West Indian American Day Parade celebrates its Forty-Second
anniversary celebration this weekend in Hartford. The Parade will
assemble at the corner of Main and Ely Streets at 11:00 a.m.
Step off for the Parade is scheduled for Twelve Noon from the former
Firestone Building. The Parade will proceed down North Main Street
to a reviewing stand constructed in front of the parking area at 3324 Main
Street. The Parade will then continue up North Main Street and will
disband at 5:00 p.m. at 3580 Main Street (the former Old Fuller Brush
Building ).
Participating
in the Parade will be floats, steel-bands, costume and music bands,
marching units, drill teams, drum and bugle corps representing local
communities.
