Hartford Police Officer Matthew Arace
Dies in Motor Vehicle Accident.


(Hartford) - Police Chief Daryl K. Roberts today confirmed that Hartford Police Officer Matthew Arace died of injuries he sustained in a motor vehicle accident on Interstate 91 South earlier this morning.

Officer Arace, a ten year veteran of the Hartford Police Department and brother of Hartford Police Detective Christopher Arace, was currently assigned as a Community Service Officer in the Barry Square neighborhood in the south end of the city.

"It is with profound sadness and a deep sense of loss that I confirm the death of Officer Arace.  He was respected by his fellow officers and by the community he served.  Officer Arace was an honored member of this department and served it with distinction and valor," stated Chief Roberts. 

"On behalf of all the men and women of the Hartford Police Department I extend our deepest sympathy to the members of Officer Arace's family."
