Hartford Police Sergeant
Matthew D. Arace Funeral Service and Procession; Notice of Street Closures
and Traffic Delays.
(Hartford) - With the funeral service and procession for Hartford
Police Sergeant Matthew D. Arace scheduled for Thursday, October 26, 2006,
beginning at 10:00 a.m. at the Holy Trinity Church, 53 Capitol Avenue,
Hartford, police have issued a traffic alert for the public to expect street
closures and traffic delays in the Downtown and Maple Avenue areas of the
city from 8:00 a .m. to 12 noon.
- The following streets will be closed on Thursday, October 26th from
8:00 a.m. to 12 noon:
- Capitol Avenue from Main Street to West Street.
- Hudson Street from Pulaski Circle to Buckingham Street.
- Linden Place.
- Whitman Court.
- State employees will be able to access state employee parking lots
from Washington Street to Buckingham Street, or from Trinity Street to
Capitol Avenue.
- Hartford Police recommend traffic to Hartford Hospital utilize Main
Street to Jefferson Street or Washington Street.
- Law enforcement agencies planning to attend should report to a staging
area at the Old Capewell Horse Nail factory on Wyllys Street at 8:15 a.m.
Take exit 29A, the Capitol Area Exit off I91. Take the first
exit to Columbus Boulevard/Convention Center, then left at end of ramp
onto Columbus Boulevard which becomes Wyllys Street after crossing Charter
Oak Avenue. Entrance to Capewell Factory is on the right, opposite Norwich
Street.
- At approximately 9:30 a.m. the funeral procession from D'esopo Funeral
Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Drive, Wethersfield, will proceed to Maple Avenue,
south on Maple Avenue to Main Street, turning west onto Buckingham Street,
then north onto Hudson Street to the Church at 53 Capitol Avenue.
- At approximately 11:00 a.m. the funeral procession will proceed from
Holy Trinity Church east on Capitol Avenue to Main Street heading south to
Maple Avenue. The procession will follow Maple Avenue, south,
passing through Barry Square, the neighborhood in which Sergeant Arace
served as Community Service Officer. The procession will proceed to
Cedar Hill Cemetery on Maple Avenue, Section 29, for internment.
