HARTFORD POLICE ARREST
PILOT AT BRAINARD AIRPORT TRANSPORTING MARIJUANA.
(Hartford) - At approximately 9:00 p.m. on Monday, May 22nd,
officers of the Hartford Police Department and Connecticut State Police,
acting on information from confidential sources, intercepted the delivery of
a large amount of marijuana that had been transported to Brainard Airport
via airplane. The pilot of the aircraft, Louis Luyten of Chelsea Road,
South Glastonbury, was detained by Hartford Police just outside the airport
at 20 Lindbergh Drive while leaving in his private vehicle. During the
subsequent investigation officers discovered a large quantity of marijuana
in his vehicle.
Luyten was charged by Hartford Police with Possession of Marijuana over
one Kilo and Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Sell.
His bond was set at $250,000.
Hartford Police, Connecticut State Police and the federal Drug
Enforcement Administration (DEA) are continuing their investigation of the
incident. Luyten's aircraft and vehicle were seized by Hartford Police
and are in the custody of the DEA.
