CRIME TIP HOTLINE: 860-527-TIPS NEWS RELEASE HARTFORD POLICE ARREST DOWNTOWN BURGLARY SUSPECT. (Hartford) - As a result of an investigation spanning several weeks, led by Hartford Police Downtown Community Service Officer (CSO) Joseph Fargnoli and the Downtown Neighborhood Policing Team Commanded by Lieutenant David Polletta, burglary suspect Kenneth McFarlin was taken into custody by Hartford Police on December 21, 2006. Hartford Police believe McFarlin to be a suspect in numerous Downtown burglaries and car breaks. At approximately 10:30 a.m. on the 21st, McFarlin, identified through surveillance photos provided to Hartford Police by a Downtown parking garage, was spotted by security in the garage at 1 Constitution Plaza. Hartford Police Community Service Officer Joseph Fargnoli responded to a call from security and observed the suspect looking into cars. McFarlin was apprehended without incident by Officer Fargnoli and found in possession of burglary tools and a crack cocaine pipe. In commenting on the investigation and apprehension of McFarlin, Downtown CSO Fargnoli stated, "This successful investigation culminating with the arrest of McFarlin is the result of a good working relationship between the community and our neighborhood policing team." Chief Daryl K. Roberts expressed his thanks to everyone who assisted in this investigation, adding "Due to the excellent police work and community cooperation in this investigation, a career criminal is now off our streets making our Downtown neighborhood safer and more secure for all. My congratulations to the Downtown Neighborhood Policing Team and our community partners." McFarlin was charged by Hartford Police with possession of burglary tools and possession of drug paraphernalia, and remains in custody on $1,000,000 bond.
