Hartford - On
Saturday, October 28, 2006 at 2:55 am Hartford Police were called to the
area of 887 Asylum Avenue for a reported motor cycle crash with injuries.
Upon arrival, police found two victims in the roadway with life
threatening injuries. Both were transported to Saint Francis Hospital.
The female passenger, Amanda C. Hersey, 24 years of age, from Manchester,
Connecticut, was pronounced dead upon arrival at the Hospital. The male
operator, Bryan Hood, 23 years of age, from Marlborough, Connecticut, was
pronounced dead later that day. Witnesses observed the 2005 Suzuki SC5
traveling at a high rate of speed from the downtown area heading west on
Asylum Ave shortly before the accident. "The preliminary investigation
revealed that speed and wet road conditions due to the heavy rain were
both factors in the crash," stated Sergeant Jason Thody, Commander of the
Hartford Police Department's Crime Scene Division, the lead investigative
Division of the accident.
