POLICE IDENTIFY SUSPECT IN (Hartford) - Detectives of the Hartford Police Department have identified Joshua Suarez, age 20, of 55 Ensign Street, East Hartford, as the suspect in an early morning stabbing that resulted in the death of Michael Nieves, 26 of Hartford. At approximately 2:00 a.m., Hartford Police responded to a 911 call from Sam's Convenience Store located at 145 New Britain Avenue on a report of a person stabbed. At the same time officers located the victim, Michael Nieves, arriving at the Hartford Hospital Emergency Room suffering from a stab wound to the left side of his torso. The victim became unresponsive and was pronounced deceased at 2:54 a.m. Investigators have preliminarily determined the homicide occurred during the course of a heated argument over a woman between the suspect and victim near the entry way to the convenience store. Suarez, described as an Hispanic Male, DOB 03/23/1986, 5'9", 200 lbs, with black hair and brown eyes, has a right ring finger that is amputated. Police believe Suarez may be driving a late model two door Buick, possibly green. As the knife used in this crime has not been recovered, Suarez is considered armed and dangerous.
