HARTFORD POLICE CLOSE INVESTIGATION
OF ALLEGED SEXUAL ASSAULT.

(Hartford) - As a result of the recanting of details of an alleged sexual assault incident in Hartford on November 14, 2006, by the victim, Hartford Police today closed its investigation of the incident.

In an interview with Detectives of the Hartford Police Department's Major Crimes Division today at 1:00 p.m., the victim, a female, stated to police that the incident she reported on November 14, 2006 was not random, that in fact she knew the suspect who was her friend, and that the alleged incident did not occur in Bushnell Park. 

"As the victim has refused to identify the suspect, disclose the location of the alleged incident, or cooperate further with the investigation we have closed this case," stated Deputy Chief Neil Dryfe.
