TRAFFIC ALERT:  ACCIDENT SHUTS DOWN FERN AND WHITNEY STREETS;  POLICE ASK MOTORIST TO UTILIZE ALTERNATIVE ROUTES.
 

(Hartford) - Due to a serious accident at Fern and Whitney Streets in Hartford, motorist can expect traffic delays in the area for the next several hours.  Fern Street, between Kenyon and Oxford Streets is closed, and Whitney Street, between Elizabeth and Cone Streets, is also closed due to the accident.

Hartford Police suggest motorist utilize alternative routes such as Farmington and Asylum Avenues, or I-84, and avoid the area altogether as it appears at this time the streets will remain closed for several hours.
