Sunday, July 22, 2007 at 1:24 a.m. Hartford Police, Fire and EMS responded
to the intersection of Garden Street and Ashley Street for a reported
motor vehicle crash. Upon arrival a single male later identified as David
Tindle, 38 years of age from Hartford was found in the roadway with life
threatening injuries. Mr. Tindle was transported to Saint Francis
Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The initial investigation revealed that Mr. Tindle was operating his 1999 Kawasaki Ninja ZX600 South on Garden Street. As he approached the intersection of Ashley Street he lost control and fell off of the bike, landing in the oncoming, Northbound lane of Garden Street. Mr. Tindle was then struck by a vehicle traveling North on Garden Street. The vehicle that struck Tindle continued without stopping. The incident was captured by a security camera from a local business. The footage is being enhanced to possibly extract the license plate of the evading vehicle. The vehicle in question is a light colored, Ford Expedition with light damage under the drivers side front end. Below is a still photo of the vehicle captured from the surveillance video. Hartford Police are seeking the identity of the operator of this vehicle.
