CONNECTICUT PAROLE AND PROBATION OFFICES CONDUCT
Utilizing GIS mapping technology, four teams of detectives, parole, and probation officers visited 40 locations in the city's four neighborhood policing districts. Three investigative visits, one narcotics arrest, eight arrests involving violation of probation or parole or on take in to custody orders, nine individuals identified as not in compliance requiring additional investigation, and fourteen offenders were found in full compliance, as a result of the enforcement effort. Below is a GIS map of today's operation. Hartford Police Chief Daryl K. Roberts praised today's operation and the coordination between the HPD Sex Offender Registry Unit and the State of Connecticut Offices of Parole and Probation saying, "Let this be a clear message to sex offenders that we take compliance with state registry laws very seriously and that we will be aggressively investigating those not-in compliance." The Hartford Police Department Sex Offender Registry Unit is responsible for maintaining a central registry of persons residing in the City of Hartford who have been convicted of certain sexual offenses and are statutorily required to register with the State of Connecticut Department of Public Safety Connecticut Sex Offender Registry Unit. Any registered sex offender residing in the City of Hartford found to be in non-compliance and/or had failed to register is investigated by the HPD's SORU and appropriate police action is taken. Additional investigative duties of the SORU are, but not limited to, sex offender newly registered notification, sex offender change of address notification and sex offender release notification.
