HARTFORD POLICE INTEL/VIOLENT CRIME IMPACT TEAM
EXECUTES TWO SEARCH AND SEIZURE WARRANTS;
MAKES THREE ARRESTS AND SEIZES THREE FIREARMS


(Hartford) - In separate details this morning, detectives of the Hartford Police Department's Intelligence (Intel) Division Violent Crime Impact Team (VCIT) made three arrests, one a high ranking member of the Los Solidos, and seized more than a kilo of cocaine and three firearms.

At approximately 5:00 a.m. this morning, members of the Intel VCIT, assisted the the HPD's Emergency Response Team (ERT)  executed a search and seizure warrant at 51 Mahl Avenue.  Arrested as a result of the investigation was Carlos Escalera, DOB 9/17/1973, of 51 Mahl Avenue, Hartford, known to be a high ranking member of the Los Solidos, and Rosemarie Pinto, DOB 4/19/1984, of 51 Mahl Avenue.  Both Scalar and Pinto were charged with operating a drug factory, possession of drugs with intent to sell (PWITS), possession of narcotics by a non-dependent person, and risk of injury to a minor.  Each remain in custody on $500,000 bond pending arraignment in Hartford Superior Court.  Detectives seized fifty one grams of uncut heroin, approximately $9,500 in U.S. Currency, nine .40 caliber bullets and a magazine clip, and heat sealers, bags, stamp, and other narcotic manufacturing items.  Below are mugshots of Escalera and Pinto.

Later this morning, at approximately 11:00 a.m., detectives of the Intel/VCIT team executed a search and seizure warrant at 41b East Elliott Street.  As a result of this investigation detectives seized a compressed brick of white powder, believed to be more than a kilo of uncut cocaine, digital scales, zip lock bags containing more than 3 pounds of marijuana, three firearms (one reported stolen) and numerous rounds of ammunition.  Below is an inventory of items seized while executing the search warrant.  Arrested and charged with operating a drug factory, sale of narcotics, possession of narcotics by a non-dependent person, criminal possession of a firearm, and stealing a firearm was Edwin Negron, DOB 3/12/1963, of 41b East Elliott Street, Hartford.  Negron remains in custody on $750,000 bond pending arraignment in Hartford Superior Court.
