K-9 BRAGG, EIGHT YEAR HARTFORD POLICE DEPARTMENT VETERAN TO RETIRE TODAY

(Hartford) - Hartford Police Chief Daryl K. Roberts today announced that eight year HPD veteran K-9 Bragg will retire at the end of his work day today, Friday, September 7, 2007.

K-9 Bragg graduated from the Connecticut State Police K-9 Training Academy in 1999 as a patrol K-9 specialist.  Since then, K-9 Bragg and his partner, HPD Officer Peter Lynch have located dozens of missing persons and apprehended hundreds of criminal suspects.

"He loves kids," said Officer Lynch of K-9 Bragg.  "The most enjoyable and rewarding part of his job has been the thousands of children he has connected with through visits and demonstrations at area schools and most notably at the Connecticut Children's Medical Center."  When asked what K-9 Braggs retirement plans are, Officer Bragg said, "He plans on staying home with his other dog friends and my family."

Commenting on K-9 Bragg's retirement, Chief Daryl K. Roberts stated, "K-9 Bragg will be terribly missed here at the HPD and in the community he has served with distinction for eight years. He has made many friends both in the department and in the community he has dedicated his career to serving and protecting.  He has worked hard and has earned his retirement. He is and always will be a very special part of our police family."
