HARTFORD POLICE IDENTIFY
JANUARY 13, 2008 HOMICIDE VICTIM


(Hartford) - Detectives of the Hartford Police Department's Major Crimes Division have identified the victim of an early morning shooting on Sunday, January 13, 2008 at Efrain Nazario, DOB 5/10/1969, of 115 Sigourney Street, Hartford.

At approximately 6:00 a.m. on Sunday, January 13th, police responded to a report of a party shot in the vicinity of Julius Street and New Britain Avenue.  On arrival officers discovered the victim, Efrain Nazario, lying in front of 87 New Britain Avenue with gunshot wounds to his abdomen and buttock.  Nazario was transported to Hartford Hospital by EMS personnel where he was listed in critical condition.  Nazario succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at approximately 11:15 a.m.

Witnesses at the scene stated that the victim was involved in an earlier altercation in front of 101 New Britain Avenue and the suspect(s) returned in an SUV or station wagon and fired approximately five shots at the victim.  Police are looking for a Subaru or Honda Station Wagon with a broken window.
