MURDER SUSPECT TURNS HIMSELF INTO TO HARTFORD POLICE


(Hartford) - Matthew Boutilier, DOB 4/27/1979, of 19 Waterford Street, Hartford, wanted by Hartford Police in connection with a January 12, 2008, double shooting incident that left one dead and one injured by multiple gunshot wounds, has turned himself in to Hartford Police.

On Monday, January 28, 2008, at approximately 5:00 p.m., Boutilier was booked by Hartford Police with Murder, Criminal Attempt to Commit Murder, Assault First Degree, Criminal Possession of a Firearm and Criminal Use of a Firearm.  Boutilier's bond was set at $2 million pending arraignment in today in Hartford Superior Court.

At approximately 1:30 a.m., on January 12th, 2008, Hartford Police were dispatched to 19 Waterford Street on a report of a party shot.  On arrival officers located two females suffering from gunshot wounds.  EMS personnel arrived and transported the victims to Hartford Hospital.  One victim, Becky Ramos, 5/21/78, of West Hartford, succumbed to her injuries.  The second, Yajaira Aponte, 23, of New Britain, was listed in stable condition at the time and currently recovering from her injuries.

In commenting on the arrest, Hartford Police Chief Daryl K. Roberts commended the HPD's Major Crimes Division and he community for their cooperation in this investigation, "The detectives involved in this homicide investigation never let up, and, with the help of those parties interested in bringing Boutilier to justice, he is now in custody and will be held accountable for these shootings.  I commend detectives of the HPD for their excellent work and  thank our community partners for their assistance in this investigation."

With the arrest of Boutilier for the homicide of Becky Ramos and shooting of Yajaira Aponte, the Hartford Police Department's Major Crimes Division has solved by arrest all three homicides of 2008.
