WHITEHEAD HIGHWAY CLOSED TO INBOUND
TRAFFIC DUE TO BURST OF STEAM PIPE

(Hartford) - The Hartford Police Department Traffic Division has closed the Whitehead Highway to inbound traffic from I-91 and Columbus Boulevard, between Arch and Sheldon Streets, due to the rupture of a steam pipe located in the overpass/bridge.  The roadway will be closed until further notice.

Hartford Police, Fire Department and utility companies are on scene, however, at this time cannot predict how long the roadway will be closed to thru traffic.  Consequently, officials are requesting motorists to avoid the area, utilizing detours of State Street or I-84 to access the downtown area.
