ARREST MADE IN 2004 "COLD CASE" HOME INVASION


(Hartford) - The HPD and the Chief State's Attorney's Office Cold Case Unit have made an arrest in a 2004 home invasion of an 86 year old Hartford woman's home at 13 Frederick Street.  HPD Major Crimes Detective Michael Sheldon and the Chief's State's Attorney's Cold Case Unit have charged Krista Campos, DOB 8/31/1985, of 221 Sabin Street, Putnam, with Robbery 2nd, Conspiracy to Commit Robbery 2nd, Burglary 2nd, Conspiracy to Commit Burglary 2nd, Kidnapping 1st, Larceny 3rd, and Conspiracy to Commit Larceny 3rd, in connection with the July 10, 2004 case.

As a result of the joint investigation, HPD Major Crimes Detective Sheldon obtained an arrest warrant for Campos on November 28, 2007.  On January 29th, 2008, Detective Sheldon obtained information on the whereabouts of Campos and she was subsequently taken into custody in Thompson, Connecticut.  Campos was booked at Hartford Police Headquarters and remains in custody on $500,000 pending arraignment today in Hartford Superior Court.

The Cold Case Unit in the Office of the Chief State's Attorney was established in 1998 to investigate homicides and other serious crimes that have gone unsolved for an extended period of time.  It currently includes Inspectors from the Office of the Chief State's Attorney, the State of Connecticut Department of Corrections, and detectives from Bloomfield, Farmington, Wethersfield, Windsor, and City of Hartford Police Departments.

This is the second arrest made by the HPD and the Cold Case Unit is less than a week.  See January 24, 2008 press release.
